It was a birthday party for the ages, the United States Bicentennial...or so we imagine. We weren't there, but based on the depiction in The People vs. Larry Flint, it was epic. And for whatever lasting legacy it left, there is this, an equally epic logo that was commissioned for the celebration. It was everywhere...gracing stamps (they used to be a big deal), flags, and even the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center. It doesn't get much more American than that.
