Roundels are used on military aircraft as a type of national insignia that takes elements from the national flag. Civil Standard wondered what it would look like if American cities and states had their own roundels based on their respective flags. So we made them.
Here we take the under-appreciated New Orleans city flag and apply the roundel treatment.
Adopted in 1918, the white field of the New Orleans flag is the symbol of justice and the government, the blue stripe represents liberty, and the red stripe represents fraternity. The three fleurs-de-lis represent New Orleans under the principles of government, liberty, and fraternity.
